My thoughts of the day
We live in a day of age where convenience is everywhere and it's demanded. People are busier than ever and it doesn't seem like they are slowing down anytime soon. The amount of stress that people put themselves through is unbelievable. People are busier than ever but lazier than ever. Funny contradiction isn't it? But it's the truth when it comes to taking care of the body with good nutrition and exercise. People are just down right lazy about it! I know, I was one of those busy but lazy people! I know better now!
On many occasions someone near and dear to me complains about the so called "pains" associated with getting old. It REALLY bothers him yet he is doing SO many things to progress this very thing he doesn't want to happen. WHAT?!
What is old? Truly, what does the term "old" mean to you? To me, it's just a progression of time passed. You can be "old" and healthy or "old" and unhealthy. Unfortunately, many people are old and unhealthy from their own doing. They chose instant gratification(then over time it becomes a habit/addiction) over long term health. I think back to my crazy party days and thank myself for seeing the light! lol I chose health now!!
The emphasis on unhealthy eating/habits has been made abundantly clear living in today's world. Just start eating healthy and making healthy choices and you will see! Guess what, I am not following the path that MANY chose. I have been ridiculed, poked fun of and even told I am lame and boring for my healthy choices. I will still march to the beat of my own drum in this quest to Optimal Health. It doesn't mean I am totally immune to the fact that companies do such a great job with making foods VERY enticing. Lately though I have been really focusing on beating out those "distractions". All I have to think about is underlying motivation that those companies work from, money. It's all about the bottom line and it's at the expense of people's health.
Take care of yourself and be mindful of what you are eating and feeding your kids. It's YOUR responsibility to protect and teach them.
Day 2Woke up from a horrible, horrible nightmare. The program states that there are numerous types of detoxing effects. I'd rather have a nightmare than a headache(caffeine withdrawals). I slept for 8 1/2 hours, felt good! Breakfast was ok. I am not a yogurt eater and plain yogurt is NOT on my favs list! lol I mixed in the Pure Maple Syrup, cinnamon, and blueberries. It was good enough to choke down! The oatmeal is made with water and for some people that may not be on their favs list but to me still tastes good. I also added a bit of PMS(hahaha, do you get it?) blueberries and cinnamon. Of course my little man wanted the oatmeal too.(He still feels sick today:( Although he didn't eat it because I didn't make it the normal way with an immersion blender to make it smooth(I know, spoiled boy!)
I decided to pass on the Greek salad today and have what I had for lunch yesterday. I bought White Miso paste yesterday and wanted to try it out! Yup, much better than brown miso paste. My little one decided to start munching on tomorrow's lunch, lentil-lime salad(one of his favs). He reiterated to me again that he is doing this program with me :)

Dinner was VERY GOOD! I forgot how good it was from the last time I did the Reset. It is definitely a keeper because my 2 little ones LOVED it! It can be challenging at times to find meals that we ALL love! I substituted the corn tortilla for a brown rice tortilla. Strange to say the least but I will buy it again! lol Warmed it up in the oven for about 1 min. I also added coriander, cumin and green onions to my corn and broiled the mix on low for about 10 min.(you can add this corn mixture to guacamole too, so yummy;)
So I have heard from a few of my friends on the Reset right now that are having bad headaches and feeling crappy. I have not had anything other then feeling a little slow and a nightmare. But I feel good. It feels like a buzz from drinking a glass of wine..lol..(note..I have been sober for over 2 years :)
The book also says to do the Reset when you know you will be less stressed. I have to say, the stress level has been very low. The boys have been very good. The few times they got into it, I didn't punish them(although, Ty will beg to differ.lol) who ever was in trouble had to ask the other, "what nice thing can I do for you?" So far Ty gave Zak a piggy back ride and Zak made Ty a fried egg. LOVE IT!
Today was day 16 in my 30 day Minimalist Purge group! Request to be added if you dare!!!
What is this you say?! Well, it's a group I started to get rid of S***! I have TOO many things that I don't use or can't use, it gets moved from one place to another and was causing me STRESS!! Not only was it taking up physical space but mental space too! Attachments to TOO many things. I am now making room for the more important things in my life.

Take a moment tonight and think of how you can make your life a little more simple. Then make a plan to reach it. It's not going to be just one thing that simplifies your life but multiple, small steps towards it.

Enjoy your evening and your loved ones!
